Delta Air Lines
Super Bowl 53
As Atlanta geared up to host Super Bowl LIII in 2019, Delta embraced the big game taking place in their backyard and invited guests to celebrate through a variety of exclusive experiences that showcased how no one better connects the world. Carefully curated touchpoints and custom activations over the course of the weekend established Delta as an official partner of the Atlanta Falcons, Mercedes Benz Stadium, the Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee, and as Atlanta’s hometown airline.
To get employees ready for the big game, halfway through their day they were invited for a Halftime on Delta Boulevard. Over 3,000 employees enjoyed hamburgers and hotdogs served up from the plane grill, local brews from Sweetwater and Terrapin, and a DJ spinning tracks. As a fun take away, a custom digital bobblehead station gave employees the chance to smile for the camera and have their face be the face of their own SB53-themed bobblehead. Roddy White of the Atlanta Falcons stopped by to meet and take photos with employees as well as present a lucky Delta employee with a pair of tickets to Super Bowl LIII.
To surprise inbound fans, flights arriving from Los Angeles and Boston were greeted by a full drumline performance from the Atlanta Drum Academy. As fans disembarked to the beat, Delta employees distributed rally towels and refreshments to arriving fans. Former Atlanta Falcon great, Roddy White, also welcomed football fans to Atlanta for the big game. To showcase our connection to Atlanta’s teams, Freddie Falcon, Harry the Hawk and the Braves’ Blooper were on hand to greet arriving passengers and pose for photos.
To kickoff Super Bowl LIII weekend in Atlanta, we hosted guests at Yebo Beach House in Buckhead. Guests entered through our player tunnel surrounded by fog, cheering and spotlights. Linton’s Lounge, hosted by chef partner Linton Hopkins, served up delicious al pastor prime rib, and guests enjoyed several delicious cocktails, as well as the iconic Frosted Orange from The Varsity. Special player appearances from our partners, including Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons) and Shaquem and Shaquill Griffin (Seattle Seahawks), helped create a memorable guest experience. The Atlanta Drum Academy joined us for a spirited surprise drumline performance to conclude the evening.
With the first night dedicated to welcoming guests to Delta’s hometown, night two was about circling up and prepping for the Big Game in style. Guests were treated to a film breakdown and chalk talk hosted by NFL Network’s Andrea Kremer featuring NFL Hall of Famer and former Atlanta Falcon, Deion Sanders, and a budding young superstar wide receiver, Stefon Diggs from our partners the Minnesota Vikings. Diggs and Sanders (Sanders put on a show for guests and provided their thoughts on the matchup for Super Bowl LIII.
